Stellar Remote Forensic Imaging
Ensure your system has port 445 enabled before installing Stellar Remote Forensic Imaging. Follow the steps below to check and enable port 445.
1. Check if the port is already enabled.
Press Windows Key+R to open the Run command window.
Type "cmd" to open the command prompt.
Type "netstat -na" and click Enter.
Find port 445 under the Local Address and check the State.
This indicates that Port 445 is already enabled. Proceed with the installation process.
This indicates Port 445 is not enabled. Follow the steps below to enable it.
2. Enable Port 445.
Press Start and type "Windows Security" in the search bar. Select Windows Security from the search results to open the Windows Security app.
In the Windows Security app, click on Firewall & Network Protection from the left-hand menu.
Under "Firewall & network protection," click on Advanced settings. This will open the Windows Defender Firewall with the Advanced Security window.
In the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security window, click Inbound Rules from the left-hand menu.
In the right-hand pane, click on New Rule to open the New Inbound Rule Wizard.
In the New Inbound Rule Wizard, select Port and click Next.
Select TCP as the protocol and specify "445" as the Specific local ports. Click Next to continue.
Select Allow the connection and click Next.
Choose the network types for which the rule should apply (e.g., Domain, Private, Public) and click Next.
Enter a name and description for the rule (e.g. "Allow Port 445") and click Finish to create the rule.
3. Confirm if the port is enabled.
4. Install Stellar Remote Forensic Imaging.
Note: It is essential to keep Port 445 enabled while using the Software.
