Stellar Reporter & Auditor for Exchange Server
1. Why software’s web page fails to load?
Make sure the port entered during the installation is not blocked or already in use by some other software. Also, make sure the Apache service is started. For this, go to ‘Services’ (open Run window (Press Windows + R) and execute ‘services.msc’). Right click on ‘StellarApache’ service and click ‘Start’.
2. Why the web user interface looks distorted?
The application is recommended to be viewed in Google Chrome. Adjust the Zoom setting of browser according to your screen for better view.
3. Why adding a Global Catalog Server fails?
Make sure the Global Catalog Server that you have entered and the host machine from where the software is running are both in same network and can communicate with each other. To confirm this, you can ping the server using Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) from the host machine using command prompt. Unless the ping request is successful, server cannot be added.
4. Why the software is not launching the login screen on the browser after installation?
Make sure the credentials provided during the installation is correct. The Apache service requires sufficient log on rights to function properly. For this, go to ‘Services’ (open Run window (Press Windows + R) and execute ‘services.msc’). Right click on ‘StellarApache’ service and click on ‘Properties’. In the ‘Properties’ dialog, select ‘Logon On’ tab and change the ‘Log on as’ option to ‘This account’. Insert the credentials of the current logged in user and restart the StellarApache service.
5. Why the software shows Mailbox Size and Content reports for only the administrator mailbox and none of the other mailboxes?
Whichever mailbox you want to fetch information of, must have Administrator rights.
This can be done using Exchange Management Shell command:
Add-MailboxPermission -Identity -User - AccessRights FullAccess
(View more).
6. Why are the Reports under Auditor section empty?
The server needs to be scanned for ‘Events for Audit’ in order to retrieve Auditor reports. Before scanning the server make sure to implement the settings mentioned in the Exchange Server Configuration Settings section of this manual.
7. Why are the reports not showing up to date information?
The application will show the information corresponding to the date when the particular section was last scanned. To get up to date reports, scan the relevant section before fetching the reports. Instead of doing it manually, you can also schedule the scanning and report generation.
8. Why the reports are not getting saved in xlsx format when scheduled?
For the reports to get saved and emailed properly through scheduled tasks, MS Excel installed on the host machine should be activated.
9. Why are the reports under ‘Email Traffic’ and ‘OWA & ActiveSync’ sections empty even after scanning the relevant sections?
Make sure the Exchange logs paths entered while adding the server are correct and contains relevant log files. Also the path mentioned should be accessible from the host machine with the credentials used to add Global Catalog server.
For OWA & ActiveSync, scan the log files from all folders within the LogFiles folder (i.e. C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\\W3SVC1, C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC2’ etc.)
10. Why the application is not sending the email notification for Alerts and scheduled reports?
Make sure that you have selected the ‘Send Email’ option while setting the Report schedule and Alert profile. In some machines issue might occur in sending e-mail due to conflict in Microsoft .NET Framework. For this, press the Windows key on your keyboard, type "Windows Features", and press Enter. The Turn Windows features on or off dialog box appears. Select the other version of .Net Framework, select OK, and reboot your computer if prompted.
