Stellar Licensing Manager
A License Pool is a designated group or collection that organizes and manages users or resources requiring licenses. It helps in structuring how licenses are allocated and ensures efficient use across different teams, departments, or projects. Pools can be adjusted to add or remove users as needed, offering flexibility in managing access to resources.
Efficient Management: License pools let admins allocate, revoke, and manage licenses centrally.
Better Compliance: License pools help track and ensure software usage complies with licensing agreements.
Flexibility: Pools allow dynamic license allocation based on needs, with unused licenses easily returned.
When you open the License Pools tab, you’ll see the license pool information on the right in a table. The columns include:
1. Pool Name: The name of the license pool.
2. Type: The category of the license pool.
3. Description: A brief explanation about the purpose of the license pool.
4. Allocations: It shows how many licenses you have used and how many are still available.
In Allocations column, click the View Allocations button to open the Allocations for window. It displays the following details:
Product Code: The unique code for the product.
Edition: The specific edition of the product.
Duration Type: This indicates the nature of the license's validity period.
Usage Type: This defines how the license is used or consumed.
Duration: Length of time the license is valid for, based on the Duration Type.
Total Count: The total number of licenses in the pool.
Available Count: The number of licenses still available for allocation.
Consumed Count: The number of licenses already assigned.
5. Actions: This column provides buttons that allow you to take actions on each license pool. The actions available are:
A. Allocate Licenses
B. Revoke Licenses
C. Edit Pool
Function of each action has been explained below:
A. Allocate Licenses: Allocate Licenses option allows you to assign licenses to a pool, enabling them to perform migration tasks.
Steps to follow to allocate license to the pool below
a. In the Actions column, click three dots.
b. From the drop-down, click Allocate Licenses.
c. In Allocate Licenses window, click Add Product you want to allocate a license for.
Note: After you add a product, the details appear, including the duration, availability, and edition.
d. After you select a product, enter the number of licenses in the Quantity box.
e. Click Update Allocation.
B. Revoke Licenses: Revoke Licenses option allows you to remove a specified number of licenses allocated to the pool, making them available for other use.
Steps to follow to revoke licenses from the pool below
a. Navigate to the left pane and click License Pools.
b. The License Pools window opens, displaying the following metrics: Pool Name, Type, Description, Allocations, and Actions.
c. In the Actions column, click the three dots and select Revoke Licenses.
d. The Revoke Licenses window appears with two fields:
Quantity to Revoke: Enter the number of licenses to revoke.
Currently Allocated: Displays the current number of allocated licenses.
e. After entering the quantity, click Revoke Licenses.
C. View Pool Users: View Pool Users displays users currently using licenses from the pool.
Steps to follow to revoke licenses from the pool below
a. Navigate to the left pane and click Shared License Pools.
b. The License Pools window opens, displaying the following metrics: Pool Name, Type, Description, Allocations, and Actions.
c. In the Actions column, click ellipsis and select View Pool Users.
d. User in Pool window appears.
Current Users in Pool: A list of users with columns:
Name: User’s full name.
Email: User’s email address.
D. Edit Pool: Edit Pool option allows admins to make changes to the existing license pool, including adding or removing users and adjusting user allocations.
Steps to follow to edit the pool below
a. In the Actions column, click ellipsis and select Edit Pool.
b. User Pool Manager window opens.
User Pool Manager window has four boxes, as follows:
Current Users in Pool:
Name: Displays the name of the user assigned to the pool.
Email: Displays the user's email address.
Action: Options to add or remove the user from the pool.
Available Users to Add:
Name: Displays the name of the available user who can be added to the pool.
Email: Displays the email address of the user.
Action: Option to add the user to the pool.
Users to be Removed:
Name: Displays the name of the user who will be removed from the pool.
Email: Displays the email address of the user to be removed.
Action: Option to remove the user from the pool.
Users to be Added:
Name: Displays the name of a new user to be added to the pool.
Email: Displays the email address of the new user.
Action: Option to add the user to the pool.

Note: User Pool Manager is only accessible by admins to manage users within a license pool, allowing them to add or remove users and control who gets access to licenses. It helps ensure efficient license allocation based on user needs.
If a new team or project requires a set of licenses, you can easily create a new pool to manage and allocate those licenses.
By creating pools, you can categorize and manage licenses based on teams, departments, projects, or any other criteria, making it easier to track usage and allocation.
The Create button in the License Pools tab in the top right corner allows users to create a new license pool. This feature is provided to enable administrators or users to organize and manage their software licenses effectively.
To create a new License Pool
Navigate to the License Pools tab.
In the top-right corner, just above the Actions column, click Create button
Create License Pool window opens.
In the Create License Pool window, enter the Name and Description.
Click Create.
Once you have entered the required information, you can create the license pool, and it will appear in the License Pools table for future management.
A single page on the License Pools menu shows up to 10 reports only. To view other reports page, navigation buttons are provided below the table.

To display more rows, check the box next to "Rows per page."
