3.5. Upgrading the Software

Applicability: This topic on “Upgrading the Software” is only for the Technician edition of Stellar Data Recovery for Tape.

Stellar Data Recovery for Tape provides you an option to upgrade your software to a higher edition to unlock more features. The editions are given below in descending order, with Technician being the highest upgraded edition of Stellar Data Recovery for Tape:

• Stellar Data Recovery for Tape Toolkit edition

• Stellar Data Recovery for Tape Technician edition

Example: If you have a Technician edition of Stellar Data Recovery for Tape you can upgrade it to Toolkit.

Steps to upgrade the software:

1. Run Stellar Data Recovery for Tape.

2. Once you have activated the software, Upgrade button is enabled. Click on upgrade button.

Note: In order to learn how to activate the software, refer to Activating the Software. 

4. The Software Upgrade settings appear as shown below:

5. Type the Upgrade Key (received through e-mail after purchasing the upgraded product) and click Upgrade button (Please ensure that you have an active Internet connection).

6. If you don’t have the Upgrade Key, click Get Upgrade Key link in the window to go online and purchase the product.

7. The software would automatically communicate with the license server to verify the entered key. If the key you entered is valid, the software will be upgraded successfully.

8. ‘Stellar Data Recovery for Tape upgraded successfully‘ message is displayed after the process gets completed successfully. Click OK.
