1. About Stellar Data Recovery for Tape

Tape is the oldest yet the most important and useful storage device. Companies use tapes to store a huge amount of data or to keep backup from the server. It is because the tape has good storage capacity, cost-effective, efficient, and durable.

The problem occurs when you have to recover the data from the tape. Since the data cannot be simply recovered from any tool or application. A Utility, i.e. a medium, is required to recover the tape data and transfer it to your system. 

For this purpose, Stellar Data Recovery for Tape software is developed. The software recovers the data stored in the tape, creates a separate single file called Image, and saves it to your system. After an image is created, the software loads the image, scans it, and displays the scanned data in the tabular format. From the table, you can preview the data and save it to your system. 

Stellar Data Recovery for Tape is available in two editions:

  1. Toolkit edition
  2. Technician edition

Key Features: 

  1. Recovers Tape Data: Allows recovery of tape data in an easy and efficient way. 

  2. Create Image: Creates a single separate file (.tape) called an Image of the connected tape drive.    

  3. Choose Destination: Provides an option to select the path to save the image. 

  4. Force Block Size: Provides an option to select the block size to store the data in different blocks. 

  5. Load Image: Loads the existing image whose data needs to be recovered. 

  6. Scan Image: Provides an option to scan the image data and convert it into a readable format. 

  7. Load Single Image: Only one image is loaded and scanned at a time.

  8. Tabular Format: Displays the recovered data in a tabular tree-like structure.

  9. Preview Recovered Files: Allows preview of the selected Acrobat Files, Audio Video Files, Image Files, Internet Files, and Office Documents.

  10. Save Recovered Files: Provides the option to save recovered files at either default location or at user-defined location.

  11. Parsers: Supports for Arc Serve Backup(Normal, Incremental and Differential), Veritas, Compressed Veritas Backup, TSM (BA Client), Symantec NetBackup, Tar, CPIO Compressed and PAX,  Compressed Tar and for cpio.

Note: the Technician edition of Stellar Data Recovery for Tape only supports Veritas, Compressed Veritas Backup file types.
