4.14.3.2. Search Duplicate Files

Stellar Data Recovery provides a feature to scan duplicate files and remove them to free up your storage space.

Take the following steps to scan duplicate files:

1. Run Stellar Data Recovery.

2. Click  More under Other Options in the side panel. A list of options appear.

3. Click  Search Duplicate Files option from the given list.

4. Search Duplicate Files screen appears. Select the location from where you want to search duplicate files.

Note: Use Deep Scan to perform a comprehensive search of the duplicate files at the location you selected. 

5. Click  Search.

6. The searching process of duplicate files takes place. The screen appears as shown below.

Note: Click  Stop to stop the scanning process.

• Abort Scan alert box appears. Click Yes to abort the scanning process.

• Click No if you don’t want to abort scanning process.

7. Search Complete dialog box appears on the screen depicting the size of duplicate files. Click OK.

8. You will see a screen appears with various tabs. Each tab is discussed below:

Note: The current scan results will be lost if you click Back after the duplicate files are scanned.

1. All – It contains all types of duplicate files.

2. Others – It contains the files that are not present in any category.

3. Filters – Users can filter the files using two ways:

• By size- Users can filter the files according to their size: Small Files, Medium sized Files, and Big Files.

• Accessed in – Users can filter the files according to their date of access- 1 Month, 1 to 6 Months, and Beyond 6 Months.

4. Selected – It contains all the files selected by the user for deletion.

9. View all the selected large files and deselect any important file which you don’t wish to delete.

10. Click  Clean to remove selected duplicate files from the system.

11. Confirmation dialog box appears. Click Remove to confirm to remove selected files.

12. Remove Files progress dialog box appears depicting the removal of selected files. If you want to stop the removal process, click Stop.

13. After the selected duplicate files are cleaned from the system, Removal Complete dialog box appears on the screen with a message “You have successfully removed selected files”.

14. Click  Back located at the top left of the screen to close the current screen.
