Method 3: Search in the main database file of Skype

All the Skype data including messages and videos are stored in a database file – main .db except the deleted videos.

Try searching for the missing video messages in the main.db files. You can access it using an SQLite app/command line/browser editor on Windows PC or Mac.

To search missing videos in main.db through the browser:

Where is the main.db files on Mac?

On Finder from the dock of Mac navigate to Go > Home (~) > Library > Application Support > Skype/. Open the folder with your Skype name and access the main.db file. You can also copy it on your or other Mac/PC.

Ciao Sumona,

with latest Skype version, I’m not able to find main.db in local. Fmore is no more possible to select “forever” for keep the history. Missing this option.

  1. Go to the Skype Setting.
  2. Click the File Saving mode.
  3. Save the file at the desired location on your system.
  4. Click Ok.

Hey Sumona,

I was having a Skype video call with my mentor and had a 2.5hr video call which I was using screen recorder on my Mac, but I didn’t notice the sound was muted so I have a video with no dialogue. Is there anyway to retrieve the video convo that was done through my Outlook website for my Hotmail? Thanks!

  You can try the following Solutions for “Freezing Screen Sharing problem.”
  
  1. Restart or Re-install Skype. Download Skype ’s newest version that works best with Screen Sharing.
  2. Have an efficient system. An efficient system should have 1 GHz CPU, at least 512 MB of Memory (or more), 300kbps download and upload speed (or more).
  3. Close unused windows on the desktop. Close other unnecessary windows on your desktop while using Skype. Too many opened windows slows down the performance of your system.
