QuickBooks Rebuild not Responding – Error and Solution

Do make a backup copy of your QuickBooks data file. It will save you from the permanent data loss.
Do not run this command over the network. Launch QuickBooks on the computer on which the company file is located. If the file is present on the shared network then, you need to switch to single user mode. To do so, go to File->Switch to Single-user mode.
Do not cancel or abort the rebuild data process.
Do not run the rebuild command when encrypted data is corrupted.

Note: These are the important points to remember.

Verify Data:
1. Click File -> Utilities -> Verify Data.

If you see:

“QuickBooks detected no problems with your data” – You don’t need to perform any further action.

“Your data has lost integrity” – This indicates possible data damage in the file. To rectify, proceed to rebuild your data.

Rebuild Data:
- Click File -> Utilities -> Rebuild Data
- Click ‘Ok’ if you receive a warning message to backup your company file. Your computer may display the message ‘QuickBooks rebuild not responding’. As long as you can move your mouse indicator, wait for it to complete.
- Click ‘Ok’ when you get the message ‘Rebuild has completed.’

Repeat Step 6 to check for remaining data damage. If verify fails this time, proceed to next step.
Find QBWin.log files and check the entries to see if the damage has been rectified.

What to do when QuickBooks Repair fails?

Sometimes, QuickBooks rebuild command might fail before completion and leave QBW files in the inconsistent and damaged state. Alternatively, the rebuild command might hang and display the message ‘QuickBooks rebuild not responding’ endlessly prompting you to terminate the process abruptly. In such a condition, you might not be able to launch QuickBooks at all thus preventing you from accessing your critical financial data.

  The main reasons for this problem are:
  • Company file name is more than 65 characters.
  • When the user tries to save the backup into the external drive.
  • The company file size is more than 3GB.
  • The path of company file is long.
  • The file name contains a .ADR extension.
  Check all these parameters and if you cannot fix the problem then let me know.

  Use the safe mode to check the connectivity problem. In safe mode, the OS loads the minimum number of the driver, which required and does not load the driver for the printer, network, sound card, CD drives, etc.

It was all good, and suddenly I got the QuickBooks not responding message on the screen. I opened task manager and, ended the process. By putting an end to the process this way, my data got corrupted. Can I repair my QBW file data by Stellar Recovery for QuickBooks Software?

Hi,

Every time, when I am going to take the backup then got a dialog box asks for the technical assistance.
Here is the warning message:

Problem
A data program prevents QuickBooks from continuing.

Solution

Rebuild your data now. Close all windows and choose Utilities and Rebuild Data from the File menu.
If you see the message again, call Intuit Technical Support.

  You can skip the verification process and take the backup of your file by the following steps:
  
  1. Go to File menu, select ‘Backup Company’ and choose ‘Create Local Backup’
  2. Select ‘Local Backup’ from the ‘Create Backup’ window and click on ‘Options’
  3. Click on No Verification option at the bottom of Backup Options window
