Let’s read further to understand this issue and how it can be resolved.

The Cause Behind the SSDs in Windows 11 Computers Slowing Down

Even after the continuous updates and bug fixes, Windows 11 remains a bug-riddled OS, which still needs a lot of work.

With regards to the March 28, 2023 - KB5023778 update, affected users have taken to various forums like Reddit to voice their concerns regarding the issues related to it. There have been reports of performance drops even with the top of the line SSDs. Users are unable smoothly use any applications as they have become sluggish and slow.

The exact reason behind this issue is still not clear. However, frustrated users are trying to piece together information scattered across various portals to come to a conclusion.

Why is this Update Problematic?

According to a user on a Reddit thread, a similar issue was reported in 2022 with an update, which was due to an unnecessary task undertaken by NTFS journaling. Some users are speculating it to be a an reason behind the issue.

Other users are encountering this issue right after installing the Moment 2 update. Moments is a new update process that Microsoft has introduced with Windows 11, which will bring new features along with minor bug fixes.

What’s the Resolution?

While there is no official statement or solution from Microsoft, the Redmond-based tech giant, however, has confirmed receiving the bug reports.

With no proper solution or fix for this issue, many agitated users are shifting back to Windows 10, until a stable Windows 11 build releases.

Some Windows 11 users are also suggesting uninstalling the latest update to solve the issue. However, this is a temporary fix and it increases the chances of lowered security due to the absence of the latest security patches.

Reverting the updates has its pros and cons.
